Of an ant and goldfish

Let me start with two short stories.

Once upon a time, there lived this goldfish, we'll call him Mr. Bobble. Why? thats because when he was brought to his new tank in some dude's aquarium, he was upside down and can't swim properly(duh),bobbling around and earning his 'Bobble'. Much to other's surprise, mr bobble could really bobble! He managed to snatched for food in the competitive tank with sheer WILLPOWER and miraculously recovered from his disease(surely u didn't think swimming upside down was natural)?

Months down the road, he's now called gobble bobble. Why? its cuz... he CAN'T gobble no longer. He swims the right way now, but he can't seem to lift himself up to the surface anymore, stagnating at the bottom and hoping the food flakes will swim to the bottom. With an occasional burst of strength, he'll WILL himself to the surface of water in hope of snatching some food. But cruely, the whirlpool called Pump merciless swipes his food away, and gobble Bobble falls right back down again. And what little scrapes of food that sank to the bottom he could not touch, for such was the way he's mouth was constructed : slightly upturned and inconvenient to forage for food at the bottom, no thanks to those beautiful rocks called Pebbles in his way.

Before long, Gobble Bobble starves to death.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There lived this ant called Stick. No no, he was as thin as a stick, but thats not how he got his name. He was actually named... after his Idol! it was the Stick Insect. You see, this safety cautious Stick loved to imitate his Idol's ability to fit into the surroundings. Standing perfectly still, he'll blend into the surroundings and no one would notice him.

But of course, ants are a busy, hardworking lot. Stick was kept busy of cuz, but he was hardly hardworking. When fellow ants tolled to carry food back he'd follow, but only just; merely going through the motions of being the average worker ant. But he was happy. Being unambitious, its difficult to imagine him not happy.

Conflicts are not his way of life. He avoids them like the pesticide. Refusing to take up the slightest task, he won't plot paths for the ant march, decide what food to carry home, nor give suggestions as to what to do. He never fights for any leadership position, saying politely, "I don't mind, anything would do."

In truth, his favourite refrain is, "I don't care". But of cuz thats not what you'll hear him say in front of Senior ants. He wants to be accepted. So that faux pass, nah, he'll never commit. But listen carefully, and u 'll hear him utter that all-too-familiar phrase under his breath.

One day the ants carried some crunchy, all too delicious food home. Fellow ants scrambled, argued, and debated for their share. Stick stood still, standing well away from his commotion. "I'm an observer!" he beams. Thats what he prides himself on, and any chit chat with him, if he's in the mood, can turn into a MAJOR bitching session.

Of cuz, there've been ppl who tried to persuade him to change. Good old mr. gobble bobble from the last story, before his demise, was one such person. "Go for it bro, live your life. You see hermits? Yes these wise ppl hide from conflict of the world, but thats because they've seen all there is to life. 看透了。What about you? As you a retired F1 Champion or a faceless traveller stuck in some stuffy bus?"

But these advice fell on deaf ears.

Soon, the hustle and bustle died down. Stick snapped out of his recollection, and looked up. Gosh! His fellow ants have died! He rushed to check, and it seems the crunchy food brought back were in fact POISONOUS!

See! Stick thought to himself. Lucky i never get involved in squabbles. In the end get poisoned, for what lah. THe leader who lead the group to bring back this ant poison even more cham, even after dying, also will get scolded by future generations for bringing harm to his comrades!

True enough, as Stick thought, when the Elders and Seniors and the rest of the tribe converged, they condemned this Party leader, and decided to appoint a new leader to take charge of this profitable locale. But since all the other ants here are dead, there was only Stick who was familiar with this place.

True to his character, Stick politely declined all offers to be leader. Left without a choice, the Queen ant could only appoint a leader from the immigrants coming to inhabit this locale. However, no one knew what this place was like. What to do?

They said, 老马识路, and promptly appointed Stick as the guide.

And guess what, he didn't know how to do a single thing.

He told the new leader, "Be responsible!". After all, its YOU that's in charge isn't it? I'm just an old resident thats all.

oh how true.

And all these, Mr. Gobble Bobble witnessed before his death, in the dying moments as he lay at the bottom of the fish tank, he asked," isn't life perfectly CRUEL to me? I fought life with my outmost vigor, yet here i'm, soon to be DEAD."

Then he shook his head, his whole body, and did a Bobble one last time. " No no. I'm perfectly unfortunate, that is all. Life IS perfect. Just this death of mine. Perfectly Useless."

"But what about stick's Life? its the same as my death."

"Perfectly Useless!"
=The End=

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok i meant it to be 2 separate stories but as i went along i sorta linked it.

Yeah it was planned to be one being a real story, and another being my first attempt at Satire. Hardly Swift-like Gulliver Travels stuff, but hey i'm writing for the fun of it.

Nvm if u can't identify the real-life version of my characters cuz not all are based on real ppl. Some i just borrowed bits and pieces and oh yeah these stories, can really easily be manipulated to suit anything.

But then Mr. Stick, you know i'm talking about you.

An Ideal Husband, and A Long Post

Sheesh i haven't updated in a while!

The past few days were busy geez to be honest i cant remember much. Ok Lemme try. Thursday after that post was watching soccer and chatting online... all the way to 5+ in the morn lol.

Fri woke very late (duh) and then it was hw hw more hw. Actually no lah it was quite fun. Read An Ideal Husband for crp. Last time i read A woman of no importance and they're both by Oscar Wilde. Seems like AIH has plenty more plot than AWONI but i still prefer the latter. I mean, i love it when the dandy Lord Goring says the only way to have a lifelong relationship is to fall in love with oneself, but then again there's nothing quite like a play titled A Woman of No Importance ending with "A Man of No Importance"! The play on words, so Wildean, so beautiful. Oh, the dandy ideal.

And i did my tuition hw. yayness. Then sat morn had tuition then watch tv then do CRP... but still hadn't finish AIH then yet.

Sunday went to buy watch, cut hair, then go for the Kopitiam Association prize giving only to realise that IT WAS OVER but nvm at least we still get to take our prize $$$ =)

Then went for chinese tuition. Oh my the little room is spilling with ppl, can we change to the bigger room with proper tables, please? Oh and i got back my gong han. like. oh no ! :( 10/20 overall and 1 mark for ge shi. Oh my, how noob is that. It doesn't matter that Harold got an egg for his ge shi and li han failed. both 0 and 1 upon 4 is FAIL and lihan can just switch to writing speech (yanjianggao) since she writes like she talking. I write like i'm writing cuz i talk like i'm english ed. How? Did i mention Andy FOR ONCE didn't get 18/20? hahaha see see his foray into Dota isn't doing him any good. Oh but then i think he's still a Mr. 4.0. Can't slip that fast.

Then went home and wrote my crp(finally) and then watched soccer all the way to 5am in the morning wheee i don't regret it cuz its really cool! The portugal-holland match and i'm glad portugal got through. And Figo's still inspiration i feel. Heated match. Passion. Like u see Scolari getting fired up and all, oh my, the fire's burning in me.

And today i woke up late late yet again and guess what my parents brought a bird home. Apparently it langah something while flying and fell flat on its face. Um, no, that'd break its beak so ok it wasn't on its face but anyway my dad brought it back i think a student passed it to him or smth. Then they went to buy cage and when they were back mommy was fuming cuz after they spent 20bucks on the cage not to mention more $$$ on the food they had FOUR ppl on their way back telling them the bird cannot be kept cuz its the kind of bird that foraged for necter in plants and doesn't feed on bird food.

So when they came back we brought it downstairs and let it go but oh it just won't fly away. Then when i went upstairs it flew out ><>When I'm Gone.

Then the rest of the day spent on reading Gulliver's Travel's CLiffnotes guide. Whee i better ticum properly tmrw i won't fail no i wont!

Lemme talk abit abt GT. I think its an awesome book if you recognise all the allusions its making as well the stuff that it criticises (abstract reason, the humanities, science, experience, pride, humanity, unfeeling morality etc etc). Not that i agree with all the criticisms but its just elegant, how he does it. He uses coarse language at times, sure, but its still nice how he satricise it.

Now if all that were lost on the reader, it'll be nothing more than a children's adventure story. So when reading, open your eyes big big and read between the lines, Be Sensitive.

Coming to that point, i read in one person's letter to the forum today that basically, as her last line wrote. "Literature is LIFE". She also argues along the lines that not learning lit will make a person less able to feel for others and become, essentially, like a mechanical robot.

Although i 'm a lit student, i can't quite say i agree with her. Lets put it this way, after conversing with a person, are you able to tell that he/she has taken lit, and is thus so sensitive? Oh i do get her point abt how doing lit and answering the questions will make u think deeper. Like acting out "Et tu, Brute" will make you think twice before betraying a friend. But then again there are many other avenues for thought provoking stuff u know. Movies, television, conversations, life experience. And after 2 years (sec1&2) of lit students can always hit the books themselves.

Which brings into question, why did i take lit? To be brutally honest, i wanted the Guthrie scholarship which is now like 1000000000000000000zillion points away from me heh. cuz my eng lit was good at sec 2. So i was like, Lit is CONFIRMED. Then i picked bio to go along with it, sacrificing my beloved history. Oh well i told myself then i can just read up to catch up, but honestly speaking thats not what i 've done.

Actually if we look back at what we said in the past, how much of what we've said have we done?

Take this holi for example. I came into it with 4 areas to work on : Academics, Weiqi, Sports(i.e Gym) and developing some fashion. Oh yeah i wanted to hang out more as well.

Now holis over and guess what my hw's only completed today. Weiqi fared better. Week 1 was 100% weiqi and the subsequent weeks i put in effort as well but i've not touched it for days so u see, the consistency is not there. Sports? Gone to the dogs. To the world cup actually, after i fell sick and had less sleep it was all gone. Fashion? oh i got a book i really like i hope it helps.

ANyway let me put it behind me since the sch term starts in a few hours time. Ready, get set, no i dun want to go yet.

The fashion bk's worth talking about. Its about discovering your own style, so it had this exercise where the reader's supposed to write the answer to :

1)What do you love and feel passionately about?
2) What do you dislike and feel passionately about?

You know, i've always considered myself to be someone who thinks quite alot. I spent my time before sleeping each day (involuntarily, since i sometimes just can't get to sleep) thinking over what i did and how could i improve, then plot the days ahead.

Strangely, i've never asked myself those two questions.

Why don't you try?

Tough huh?

If you do write though, then lemme take a look? Haha ok i understand, its Personal. YEah. i'll write mine soon and ain't gonna share it either. But really, the answers to these questions will tell lotsa, won't they?

I think this is one of my longest posts ever kinda making up for lost time but like i forsee a hiatus once again when sch starts and i start realising what hw's not done.

Oh yeah chess club's interview's at this coming fri, time to pass on. Oh my. The coming of the full circle. But then yeah, perhaps it IS time for new blood.

oh yeah my past few hours were spent emailing ppl for interview, namely Stomp, blinkymummy and of cuz Mr Brown. Its for ss proj, which my group met on thurs for. And i think ss stuff, they're just pure FUN man. We do a good job, make a decent video and just like my sec3 re video, its really something years down the road, (if u dun lose the file) u can look back and remember what a fun time u had.

oh yes and australia went down to italy 1-0 to a 93rd min penalty. Haiz. good fight anyway.

You know, Gus Hiddink teams, the fighting spirit.

like the game i gave up quite awhile ago,

Battle On!

oh u see i'm so loso i meant to stop there but i forgot i missed smth. Serene i know Selina won first, but what competition? oh my u see this selina is so cute hahaha my mum saw it as wall paper and keep gushing abt her. See my mum, senior citizens matchmaking instincts worked up le, want to intro her to my 7 yr old cousin, still say, 4 years not big. hahaha lian tong zhen!

'D like upload her pic but then as i've promised, want selina pic plz go ask the turtle serene.

Is it some baby cutesy competition? Ah? WIn le then good wor... Win Anthea le.. i rmbr last time anthea had baby competition.. ke xi nvr win :(

Alright Alright. Better catch some sleep now and then tmrw come back and play weiqi.

THen next week onwards my lesson with phillip will be on tues, so thurs can go gym with ben and co. and so yay back to an active lifestyle.

geez.

Indeed,

A L-O-N-G P-O-S-T

And YOU are doing what Men Health says!

Boys!

I've got good news!!!!

Flip to the last page of this month's edition of Men's Health, 'The Guy List' no. 8 and you'll see:

"8.Read a novel with more than 300 pages, written before 1950, set somewhere in the world that is unfamiliar to you."

So lets look at the book i dug up ytd.

300 pages? It says 294, oh but lets round it up. so check.
Written before 1950? Hell yeah. It's an antique, actually.....how does 'published in 1726' sound?
Unfamiliar to you? nonono.I'm SOOOO familiar with Lilliput.

There u have it. You have read, or at least MUST read, this oh-so-brilliant book. I mean, even MH 'd give the thumbs up!

And if you haven't guessed it by now(tsk tsk, means u slacked as much as i did), the book i'm referring to is none other than our dear lit text for next term, Gulliver's Travels.

Welcome on Board.

Out.

awww. And i'm out of xiong yupei cup cuz i was late, so i was given a BYE, meaning i only get 0.5 pts. A win is anywhere from 1-4 points i think, depending on what macmahon system ur using. But either way it probably means if i want to get another of that crown besides my nick i'll need to win like all the remaining 6 of my games... which is not impossible, but i think i'd rather work on up-ing my rank.

Although playing in tourney is good for ur strength since as fernando aguilar the argentine who beat 9ps before said, it ensures that ur opponent will play at his/her best. But its alright lah. Get to dan level first then say =p

My first game was exhilarating though. Started well, lost my corner in a dui sha(meaning either i die or he die) then used the influence to madly attack. Ended up he played one strange move(blunder!) and one 'pass' equivalent move later on and ikilled his huge group. THen he lost by time while trying to rescue it. Very fun, yes. I think determination is at the bottom of it all. Dogged persistence. Cuz you never know what mistakes your opponent could make.

But still,

I'm out.

2 maggi in 3 days... no more!

sheesh its my 2nd time eating instant noodles in 3 days and as my sis pointed out it can't possibly be any good for my health. Alright my last one then. Just take it as celebration for winning my argentina bet =)

Today missed the nba match cuz i overslept. Better not miss my kgs tourney tmrw =/

lesson was good today... it always is ...haha make me feel like playing weiqi... tmrw plenty of chances!

speaking of weiqi.. last yr when i go niedaochang, beijing, i made some frens there. Then you know in china there's this weiqi channel and they having some competition to select a new female tv presenter... another offshoot of this recent craze of gameshows i suppose... and two of my frens there joined! One emailed me the links and asked me vote for her.. hahaha

Come on lah... first phase top 30 in internet votes get in.... now no. of contestants stand at the grand total of 5.... even 2nd phase also select 8! So i think they 100% get into 3rd stage where they get trained as presenters and get chance to host their own shows... haha chance of a lifetime for them... gogogo!!!

Oh ya and if they do get famous... dun forget me!!!

alright help them advertise a little:
Siwen
Qifeng
Cast your vote here

who i voted for?! geez, votes are secret!

oh ya. Welcome back Ben from Japan!

30yrs down, will we meet?

Its my mummy's birthday today!! And she celebrated in the best fashion possible(in my opinion) by meeting her sec sch frens for dinner. Although she didn't go tour the sports sch as invited by one of her frens who's working there, i hope really enjoyed the outing though i had to prepare dinner myself (this time, i can steam fish!). YEah. All these yrs bringing us up, little time she had for herself.

But then again, why should she? i'm such a good son already=)

Today played fifa05 right after waking up till 2 or 3 then after lunch go research soccer and filled in betting slips for mummy to place for me.its 50 bucks placed for the entire wkn, lets see how my 'investment' works out. Really sometime i wonder whats the difference between soccer betting and stock investment? PLenty actually, but like certain aspects feel the same. Now, only if i can find the time to read my book on stock market.

Its gonna be t&t vs england soon which i placed nothing on. Tmrw when argentina meets s&m they better win by 2goals or more. Hahaha although i only put 10 on it but then again every cent counts.

Oh yeah asked arvind abt nba finals just now then he mentioned that he was going to do lit crp so was like shit.... ppl like him so enthu... must learn from him!

oh yes so my mum met up with her close sec sch frens of 30yrs ago. Would i do the same?

Who'd i meet 30yrs down the road?

30yrs down, will we meet?

Mid match review

Its halftime of poland vs germany. Geez what am i awake now for? Hahaha found out how to watch these matches online. i dun mean match cast or other stats stuff, i mean livestreaming!! yayee hahaha. But geez it'll cost me some sleep.

Supporting poland now cuz they're really physical and although they dun have any world big names, they're still really plugging away. But of cuz its germany that had more chances. Nvm, just for the fun of it. Lucky nvr place bets lol. Poland seems to be using a 4-5-1 but they still had holes at the back... wonder if wanchope can exploit 'em when the Poles face the Ticos.

Oh yeah just now pretty moody maybe cuz hw not done and then dad what the korean show vcd 海神 was at its last episode and all the heroes die. Geez.

just now aaron was saying go play pool.. hahaha now my eyes so wide open, tmrw sure can hardly open. Besides now i'm in the mood for soccer balls, not cue balls leh. Come ntu we go play on the new street soccer court lah.

And serene was talking to me abt her religion and all. clarification: the previous post was not targeted at you! Lol. Coincidence lah. oh ya and her sis is really cute haha 'd upload it if i get her permission and she doesnt get as pissed as jojo 'd if i uploaded anthea's.

Oh ya this commentator for the match so lousy!!!! aiyoh he speak halfway cannot find words then break awkward silence before continuing, totally ignoring whats going on in the match. Haiyo. I want to complain!!!! Hahaha but if i switch to other channels i won't understand the commentary. Can't seem to find an english one, so a chinese one 'd have to do.

Lucky i'm billingual.

Normally u can count on commentators to let you know when an attack's coming to its climax... but this dude, no hope sia. i better glue my eyes on that window... bye!!

Mid Holiday Retrospection

Really, after week1 , i was like looking at one of the best holidays i could have had, ever. Week 1 was well spent on weiqi. And then i rest for a day or 2 and then set up this hw clearing plan... which i didn't see through. Oh no. But nvm, here i'm to rescue it.

But firstly some issues to get off my chest. Quite sensitive actually, its about conversion of religion. U know, its an issue that actually contributed to 1 of my aunt getting pissed off with another. there're other stuff of cuz, but then again, no washing of dirty linen in public by me here.

Here's what i think: Change of religion is a personal decision, meaning you have 100% authority to decide your religion for yourself, as is what is meant by religious freedom. The process of change, ideally, should be a well thought out one, aware of both what ur current religion is all about, and what the religion you are going to switch into is all about. Then be aware why are you making this switch. Yeah. Some ppl convert out of neccessity; certain religions require their spouses to be of the same religion. Thats a practical reason to convert. Then there is the idealistic one, like "i believe in abc, whereas my religion believess in xyz, so i'm gonna change into this religion which believes in abc as well" which i think is a brave choice. I'd admire such ppl who have the courage and conviction to make the change. What i cannot agree with though, it making the switch as a stop-gap measure. It certainly will be a life-changing decision, but i can't see how good it is to put it at focal point. Call me old-fashioned, but Get real. If you want your life to improve, you have to work at it. Change of religion may or may not help, i can't tell you for sure. But you must be emotionally and mentally strong as well. If you grab something as a crutch, then make sure after hobbling around for a while, you can stand up again.

Then after making this personal decision, you must realise that one's religion affects others as well. Your siblings, for starters. And the previous religion you have had, those idols you pray to, they ought to be disposed off in a respectable manner. Yeah. If you feel that after you decided to change, you cannot go ahead and tell your siblings of the change, then perhaps you do not feel justified enough in making the change.

Alright alright, enough ranting off by me. Just had to get it off my chest. And it sure took a long time just to write those 2 paragraphs. Now back to the secular stuff:

Hw left:
1)Reading of 传统企业 + Book Review
2)Essay Writing Exercise using The Great Strategy
“Is terrorism Ever justifiable”
3)SS Mini Documentary
4)English Biography Project + Trailer
5)Chemistry creative assignment
6)Lit CRP
7)English Portfolio
8)tuition physics hw

Today's wednesday. Fri i have lesson with phillip so it'll take up most of the day. So lets leave it as an off day. Wkn is tournament but its only from morn- somewhere in the afternoon so its alright. Ok so here's the plan:

Today i'll clear the 1) which includes both reading and doing review cuz i dun wanna drag no further. Tmrw i'll head to the gym in the morn, then come back and finish the 2)English essay, 3) select a topic for ss and complete my 5)chemistry hw.

I think thats a decent amt of work to finish in two days, yeah. Then if i can't finish them whatever time i have on fri i'll complete them. And if i manage to keep to the schedule, we can talk about the rest again =)

sleep,sleep, and little much else

Family's back, with no goban and 3 korean weiqi books of which 2 looked like for begginers and 1 was a joseki book. Other than that, nothing much for me besides some wasabi seaweed which misleaded me into thinking they went japan instead.

Anyway mom was real tired, like those ginseng she ate there had no effect whatsoever so i helped with laundry and cooking with what little skills i had picked up on my own the past few days.

Oh yeah she brought back some ginseng Brandy too yaye i'm so gonna get drunk this holis.

And greg came ytd as well and we played lotsa soccer. Sheesh i'm gonna get soccer boots so i can use the big bone to shoot them balls. Kept losing at penalties. Oh yeah we went to the main field and greg practised free kicks which were like woowww so beckham-ish lol

Ended with a headache and a halfhearted gym session though so i went back and actually slept at 7+!!!And i woke at 7 today, 12hours of sleeep! read newspapers then went back to sleep again and geez it was 12.oh my. Nearly 17hours of sleep.

Didn't go phillip's lesson today. cuz travelling all the way down to bishan really takes time, but when sch starts i'll go for each and every one of them.

My gosh. these 2 days just flew by. To be honest, my plan to finish ALL hw by today has fallen well flat. alright i'll have another post to reflect *broods*

i can open with can opener !

yayaye

Today woke up kinda late. Actually i woke at 6+ to go gym but my back hurt, wonder what did i do wrong yesterday. SO i went back for a rest and when i woke up it was 12 :(

Then it was lunchtime and i decided to cook once again with my newfound can opener and ugh can u believe it i can't open it!! Like, how do u use this thing!!! So being a gen y kid i went to the internet and searched "how to open with a can opener" and believe it or not i actually got results!!! WOuld like to link the page but i favourited it in my sis lab top so some other time yeah. Took pics as well but aiyoh, not very nice pics. Cuz my newfound can opening technique isn't quite perfected yet, and the curry from the chicken rendang spilled all over. What little it had, mostly gone.

But anyway i heated it up and ate it with brown rice and boiled brocoli (i somehow figured after heating up the rendang that if u put anything inside it'll be edible in a while and poof! it worked) and downed them all with jolly shandy. Cheers.

Played 4 games of weiqi today, up from the combined total of 0 last week. Won 3/4 shoulda have won all but got too conceited. Oh yeah played teck wei, one guy whom i won a few years back in real life in a tourney that saw him finish champ despite my win over him >< He was really talkative then and i hate my opponents chit chatting during games so i remember i put on my earphones and glared at him. And guess what. Today while playing he wrote some snide comment like "call me when you're done" and i got so pissed i made so many mistakes, and later on gave away one group from pure carelessness. Aiyoh must really learn to control my emotions. But then i decided not to resign since as tingyu said u never know what mistake ur opponent will make and later on he went to start a ko with me. A needless one, since he was ahead and he found too small and threat and the trade turned out favourable for me so i won by 10pts or so. I had played him earlier and won by resignation after i finished a group of his off. So add to my win nong nong ago, its 3 in a row!!!

*bows*

For dinner i went to hall 2 to eat cheese prata and it was pretty good.

Came back watched So you think you can dance oh my it was really nice!!! I was rooting for either jamile or melanie but aww neither won but hey it was good entertainment.

Then i noticed that japan vs australia was showing on some weird channel (i dun have scv) and just as i watched japan scored a fluke goal so i was so glad when australia scored 3 in 8minutes later on for the win.

Oh my this is a long post i'll sound so loso but hey i'm a good boy, staying up waiting for my family to come back from korea. Welcome back, people!

Rain Rain, go away

I love the rain. (no not the korean superstar)

Yeah woke up to the pitter patter of rain today, just as i had for a few days already. The feeling's so, so romantic.

But geez!

I realised I HAD CLOTHES OUTSIDE!!!! arrghhhh!!!!

Not quite smth i had to worry about in the past when dearie mommy was at home. But nvm, i thought, i'd just wash it again. But then... It just won't stop raining!!!

And no, i'm not gonna hang them indoors again bleah. Too much of a trouble.

So, rainie , pretty please, go away!?

Oh yeah went to run today but could only last 5 rounds before stitch(rather than rain, yay rainie i beat ya!) got the better of me. Then i went to the gym and did some crunches and leg lifts etc. Then went out to play bball when the rain cleared for awhile. Oh sheesh my shooting skills appear to have left me quite a while ago. Bleah. So ended up, my shooting performance ended up being very forgettable so lets, um, forget it.

If you saw my earlier post with 2 comments there, it informs you that mr lew zi jian has opened a blog!!! I've been there and the style, well, is very zijian-nish. So fans of TheSexy1(as seen on his soccer jersey) should proceed to his blog
here.

Oh yes and from serene's links i saw that jojo also opened a bloggie! If my memory serves me right its her 2nd one already... her first one was sadly, only 1 post old before it suffered a premature death :(

Anyway i went in and perhaps cuz of the template the words were tweeny weeny small!!!!

How washing machines are invented... and other things they don't tell you in Home Alone movies

Its home alone day 2!!

I'm dead certain its the europeans/americans who invented the washing machine!! My justification: U see its them who have the culture of children moving out to live on their own upon the age of 18 or so right. Then these kids-turned-adults find living alone so troublesome with laundry and cooking and cleaning up the house that they invent, TA-DAH, the WASHING MACHINE!!! Like omg with mummy at home you wont find how wonderful this machine is when compared to HANDWASHING omg my hands are going to look in worse condition then those guys who hardcore gym lah.Soap and water sure can damage ur skin more than heavy weights.

Anyway it kept raining today so greg didn't come. He'll probably come in the afternoon but anyway i dumbly still went to put my clothes into the washing machine and by the time it was done the rain hadn't stopped yet so i had to hang them indoor. And i realised I WASHED THE WRONG PILE!!!! i washed my family's clothes instead (i had a separate for my own this 5day stay-alone) >< And then one of those bamboos(ok, they're not made of bamboos) actually slipped into half its original size when i held up it upright! omg Mr. Bamboo can u please stand up straight? Make me cannot hang clothes haiz.

Regardless, its smth i havent done in quite a while. So here are the photos, just for the memories:

All clothes hung up, with the fan on just to dry them aint i smart =)

oh yes and this is Mr. Midget Bamboo at the left of the pic.

And its still raining so i'm kinda lazy to walk downstairs to eat so I'll COOK!!!!! yes u heard it right, COOK!! Myself! hahaha cuz i won't risk a stomachache trying lasagne from some unknown cook :P Cooking brown rice is easy peasy stuff, then i'll just open some canned curry chicken and heat it up and maybe open some other canned stuff later if its not enough. Not exactly Healthy Lifestyle but nvm i'll supplement it with some eggs and fruits later on if i'm hungry.

Alright now back to my zuo wen. I'll finish it oh yes i will. Clap clap clap!!!

Its Home Alone

My family's going off to Korea in a few hours time, so its HOME ALONE for me. hahaha. Not that i really welcome it though, lazy to walk to canteen to eat ><

ANyway today couldn't quite get up to go gym and the whole day was screwed, slept in afternoon and nvr did work, play weiqi nor go gym. And i know what the problem is. Insomnia.

Can't get to sleep last night. Probably some carried over from qiuping. Or maybe i must change sleeping position again. I always sleep the opposite side (meaning leg to where the head's supposed to be) so tonight i'll probably switch the right way back. And oh yeah i 'll get to sleep earlier instead of ytd teaching the guys till 11 with them discussing smo. Haha i'm in too tense a mood to teach properly, get pissed off once ppl dun pay full attention.

Maybe things will pick up soon. Tmrw meeting zj and co. in the morn for chinese proj. Have to wake at like 6.30 to get to sch at 9!! aiyo. Troubles of not having a car. Then Fri greg's coming over to use my gym yeah. So waking early will be my chief aim!!!

And yeah sms huihui today haha she actually went for the beijing trip which i could not go for cuz of qiuping. Xian mu!!!

Alright alright. I 'll just wait for my presents from Korea, which my mommy promised a Nice weiqi set and some fans and books. Yayee.

Back, to empty the pile

Things gonna get dull this week. Oh wait i should brighten up. I will learn soooooo many things this week!!!!!

Actually, its just that i plan to finish ALL my holiday hw, save for the projects, by next wednesday, leaving me a week and a half of holis to play and revise.

Yeah. So thats the plan. And i'm so gonna carry it out, even if it means doing less sihuo (about an hour a day, from 2hours a day in the previous wk) and playing less (from everyday to once every 2 days) . But since its like 'off-season' for weiqi i'll squeeze in half an hour to work on other things as well, like memorising the first 50moves of a pro game a day.

And i'll re-hit the gym again. Long time no see, Mr. Gym.

So come next wed, the pile'd be empty.

GE open house on the 20th of May:

One day, you'll win it all

Alright, time to catch up with my blog.

Thurs was like all Weiqi,in school this time round, which i got disappointed when i thought so little ppl turned up, but end up they just got the timing wrong. Friday was remedial, thai express lunch with ian, then weiqi with wenwei and zb. Over lunch ian was talking about ppl who dislike me behind my back which of cuz he didn't name lah. Thats his usual style, say abit, but hold back alot. Oh wells. No one is liked by every single person lah. I've got my frens, i 've got my club, i've got myself; i'm contented.

Saturday was Day 1 of Qiuping. I think everyone enjoyed themselves but i should have told everyone the meeting time for the next day in person then wangpeng wouldn't have came so late on sunday and left when he finally saw my sms. Ohwells.

Sunday was day 2 when i finally lost to siong hwai although i think it was a good fight, plenty of chances for myself. Then the last round i drew this 5dan from china who forfeited his first round becuz he was late and still finished 2nd. Though luck, i end up losing to both champ and runner up. But this 5dan was sure strong, i was losing right from the start. As Phillip said, 和他学一盘棋吧。

Anyway, finally i finished individual6th, down from 3rd last yr, but then in terms of strength i actually feel stronger. But then i dragged my sch down and despite 3 other guys, 2 of which are sec1s getting 4pts, we still dropped to 3rd, losing to Dunman High. Not sure abt Dunman high's strength since i didn't get to play with any of their players. Oh yeah anyway special mention to junyu, who also got 4pts but didn't make the team, like last year when he tied with other members in terms of pts but also didn't make the team. Look at it this way, 1yr never play still can tie them, put in effort for one year then surely can book a spot in the team!

More positives from the juniors. 3 of 'em got individual placings, up from 0 last year. Ernest 7th phb 6th and patrick 5th (drawing a 'wah, ri' from the rg gals sitting behind). Yayee. And they got team 2nd, up from 3rd last year. Now, now, when they get to sec 3, i hope they can keep up the good work.

Anyway at the debrief i got everyone to use 1 word to encapsulate the 2days' experience and say what they'd like to improve and what changes can be made to our trainings. Lets see how much i can remember: Patrick's word was 'exciting' Viet's was 'eye opener' phb's one was smth like 'satisfying' , Ernest's one was 'Patrick'(cuz he hada fluke loss to him). "Cool" was also thrown up although i can't quite attach a name to it. Mine is development: the sec1 batch, in their time in RI, will win it all one day. One day, you'll win it all.

Training wise, more sihuo, playing, game review. But really they must go online and use online resources to train since our once a week training means what we can do is really limited. With enthusiasm, we can overcome the time constraint.

Oh yes Xudong played very well, finishing individual 3rd. thats like, WOW, beating a kgs 9d along the way and only having a fluke loss to zhang xiang then finally finishing wei lai off. Zhang hao was asking me how come xudong improved so much. diao.

Oh yes at night was talking to serene and i found out that she quote my blog in her blog. Aiyoyo!!! plz hor... its 人面不知何处去,桃花依旧笑春风。 How come she quote until look so weird!~ Haha anyway she says shoutan that time the ppl were still there.... fine. But this time qiuping nchs really very little ppl liao. So can use the same phrase again yayee.

Anyway i'm now down with a cough. *coughs*

Oh yeah reminds me this day last yr was IAG camp i remember cuz it was right after Qiuping!! how time flies.

But some things never change. For example, the MP giving out prizes had a speech that retold the story of Lanke, the same thing another MP did last year. But some things do change. Like Nygh has gotten a junior team and got some prize. Like Nchs now, not sure if they got a junior team, but surely never win anything (no offence alison, juz work harder and ask serene dont drag jojo away from training!!). Like Alan yiheng zhiyuan are stronger now than i was when i was sec1. Like i'm stronger now than i was last year.

Thats what you call Progress.
